ZRCS FLAGS OFF GOAT DISTRIBUTION IN CHOMA TO STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY RESILIENCE

Women’s cooperatives in Choma District are set to benefit from a goat distribution initiative by Zambia Red Cross Society (ZRCS), with support from the Netherlands Red Cross.
Launched on 17 April 2026 in Mapanza, Chilalantambo, the initiative will see 300 goats distributed to targeted groups, aimed at strengthening household resilience through small livestock production.

At the launch representing the District Commissioner as Guest of Honour, District Administration Officer Mrs. Hope Chiposo described the initiative as timely, noting that goat rearing offers a practical and sustainable pathway to improved household income and food security.

With the technical support of the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, the project also includes training in animal husbandry to support effective livestock management.

In his remarks, the Provincial President Mr. David Mukelabai said the intervention is designed to build resilience and support communities with sustainable solutions.
