ZAMBIA RED CROSS SOCIETY DONATES HUMANITARIAN AID WORTH SIX HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND KWACHA TO SUPPORT REFUGEES

Zambia Red Cross Society (ZRCS) has donated humanitarian aid items worth six hundred and fifty thousand kwacha to the Office of the Commissioner for Refugees to support displaced families at Mantapala Refugee Settlement. The donation includes 30 tarpaulins, 200 sleeping mats, 700 mosquito nets, 200 blankets, 6 hand-washing basins, 200 water storage containers, 50 cooking sets, 2,100 bars of soap, and 200 bottles of chlorine.

Speaking on behalf of the ZRCS Secretary General/CEO during the handover, Mr. Wina Wina said the support aims to ease the burden on the settlement and meet the growing humanitarian needs of refugees arriving from the different countries. He noted that the increasing influx of refugees has heightened demand for shelter, water, sanitation, and hygiene services.

The donation was officially received on behalf of the ministry of Foreign Affairs and Internation Cooperation, by Commissioner for Refugees Mr. Kaneneka, who commended the ZRCS for its timely and continued support to humanitarian efforts in refugee communities.
