ZAMBIA RED CROSS SOCIETY ROLLS OUT MASSIVE HYGIENE AID IN SINAZONGWE WORTH K1.3 MILLION

In a bid to augment government efforts in promoting good hygiene practices, today, July 30th, 2025, Zambia Red Cross Society (ZRCS) is distributing Non-Food Items (NFIs) to 3,112 households in Sinazongwe District, Southern Province. Each household will receive three bars of multipurpose soap, two 750 ml bottles of chlorine, and one 20-liter water storage container.

This intervention is part of a drought response project funded by the International Federation for Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), aimed at supporting communities affected by drought. The six wards benefiting from this distribution are Maamba, Senenge, Sinazongwe, Ngandabwe, Mweemba, and Chiyabi, located within the two chiefdoms of Sinazongwe and Mweemba.

Additionally, ZRCS is targeting 1,000 adolescent girls by providing menstrual hygiene kits. These kits consist of one wrapper (Chitenge), one bucket, and two sanitary pads, focusing on 10 secondary and primary schools.

The total cost of this intervention is ZMW 1.3 million.
